Background Information

I have been a resident of Arizona most of my life. I was born and raised in Mesa. As a small child, my family lived in Colombia, South America for 2 years. I graduated from Mountain View High School in Mesa. I have lived in Gilbert since 1996. My children attended Val Vista Lakes Elementary School, Mesquite Junior High, and graduated from Mesquite High School.

I have a Bachelors degree in Elementary Education with a minor in mathematics from Arizona State University. I also have a Masters degree in Elementary Education from Northern Arizona University. I began my teaching career at the junior high level in the Mesa Public Schools. After 2 years, I was hired to teach in Gilbert. I started teaching 4th grade at Val Vista Lakes Elementary School when the school opened. After 11 years, I transferred to teaching 2nd grade at Val Vista Lakes Elementary School and have been at the grade level since 1999.

I am married with 2 children. My daughter attended the University of Arizona. Following the career path of many in my family, she studied elementary education and has taught 6th grade in Vail, Arizona which is Southeast of Tucson. She is now married and living in Virginia as a Navy wife and teaches 5th grade. My son is in the Navy as a nuclear engineer on a submarine based out of Virginia. He is also married. We hope to visit both our "adult" children whenever we can.

I have two dogs to entertain me at home. I have a long haired dachshund(black and tan)named Shelby and a mastiff (tan with a black face)named Buddy. My husband and I also enjoy watching movies at the theater as well as at home, attending plays and musicals, traveling, playing card games, watching the Diamondbacks & Cardinals, and going out to eat.
