Each year, counselors will create lessons that are taught within the classroom setting. This approach allows counselors to provide comprehensive curriculum to our students at Highland High School. The guidance curriculum framework is organized to provide current information to assist students in college and career readiness, academic development and success, and in the area of personal and social development. The classroom curriculum is an introduction for students on a vareity of topics including 4 year plans, course selection, career exploration, post secondary planning and more. These pages will provide the information given to students during the guidance lesson for further review.
After our visists, we encourage students to make individual appointments and to sign up for information sessions that are offered through our department. We want our students to get to know their counselor and share with him or her their goals throughout high school and beyond so that we may address specific needs of each student.
Counselors can assit students in:
Refining their 4 year plan, assist in study skills and learning styles, assist with scholarship and college applications, explore additional career options, college decision, provide letter of recommendations and more.
