Desert Ridge Counseling Department Mission Statement:
 
The mission of the Desert Ridge High School Counseling Department is to foster the intellectual, emotional, social, andcareer development of all students. School counselors design and delivereffective curriculum, programs and services so that all students may utilizethe tools that will enable them to be responsible and productive citizens in arapidly changing world. They help students identify their abilities andinterests, strengthen their decision-making and coping skills, and develop anapproach to life that is uniquely their own.

Counseling Services
 
Desert Ridge Counselors provide student services based on the American School Counselor Association National Model.  These services include:
  • Providing the school guidance curriculum, which is based on academic planning, career exploration and personal/social skills
  • Individual and/or small group advisement
  • Crisis Counseling
  • Individual and small-group counseling--Please note that school counselors do not provide therapy.  When necessary, referrals are made to appropriate community resources.

Scheduling Appointments
  • Students should come to counseling to complete an appointment request form.
  • Counseling will send for students on the day of the appointment.
  • Students sign in and out in the counseling logbook to be excused from class.
  • A "Counselor of the Day" is available each day of the week to assist any student in crisis or who has an emergency. No appointment is needed
  • For general questions we also see walk-ins during the first 30 minutes of 4th lunch and the last 30 minutes of 5th lunch.
